The next project that I am to be working on is to be based around a narrative, and it is to have a flange. Here are the two spider charts for my main ideas.
They do not look very large, but they say big things come in small packages. I have quite the narrative in mind.
Okay Thomas, I'm not sure I understand your ideas for Project 2. These are a beginning but I think you need to push your spider charts further away from the obvious and explore some lateral concepts.
ReplyDeleteAre you considering techniques and design principles as you write these broad, abstract themes? How would you show a journey? How would you portray loneliness? Are you considering fabricating container which will hold holy water? I am really concerned that your story of Lent will be too visually similar to Project one - I definitely want you to explore some new imagery - you may not use traditional religious symbology. Also, unless the narrative is about your personal search for answers it doesn't answer the brief.
Your design HAS to be based on a personal experience. Are you the "first time farmer?" If so, you need to expand the spider chart and focus on specific experiences you could explore. For example, the joy of animal husbandry, planting and growing crops, the seasons, Bee keeping. At the moment it reads rather like a grocery list. Please consider, very carefully, how you would include broccoli, cabbage and manure in a wearable pendant.
